MiniMonos Updates!

Hello Monkeys! miniJghrocks here! xD

As you all probably  know, MiniMonos underwent some construction.... for the new updates! :D

I think the new updates are amazing! If you look around the homepage, you'll see plenty of new things. Of course, a whole new homepage!

As you can see, many new things! First off, Fan Art Friday has its own page now! You can go there and watch all the Fan Art Friday videos!

Also, a completely new feature, called Color in!

Not too good at drawing (like me xD)?  You can print off those coloring sheets, color them in, and send them back in to be in the next Fan Art Friday :D They are all pretty cool, and you should definitely go check them out!

Another cool thing now is that on all the kids pages, in the top right hand corner there's a link to the youtube page and to the Go Bananas Blog!

Also, the in-game updates! First off, when you log in, you'll need to head to the right side of the town!

And then, go inside the building and you'll see......

Mutt's Art Gallery!

When you talk to Mutt, he'll tell you all about his gallery, and how very soon, OUR OWN art could be in it! :D How cool! 

He'll also give you a link to the blog, to post art in Viper and Calypso's art competition, or a link to email him at mutt@minimonos.com, where you can also send in artwork for him! :D

Pretty cool, huh?

And doesn't he just look so happy playing his paint can bongos? xD

The art gallery also stretches on and on, and it makes you feel like you're flying! :D

I think the updates are REALLY cool, and you should definitely take a look at everything, and maybe even submit some art :D

Amazing High Scores on MiniMonos!

There were some amazing high scores from last week!

Monkey Flight high scores:

Whose turbines were spinning super-fast?

Saraapril took first place again this week, for the second week in a row! Longhorn flew into 2nd place, and iJamsey took 3rd place again for the second week in a row! Great stuff, monkeys!

Recycle game high scores:

We had some super-sorters last week!

iChance was 1st for the second week in a row! Spq96 grabbed 2nd place and number of items and Guitargirl100 took 3rd place. Awesome recycling!

Go Go Green high scores:

Wow, Go Go Green scores keep getting better!

 

Lucas01 grabbed 1st place! weado snuck into 2nd place and Snake7 took 3rd! Fantastic job, monkeys!

Tic Tac Poo high scores:

Who had the biggest swarm of flies after them?

 
monkeymite threw his way into 1st place! Viper was 2nd last week and MiniPenguitt took 3rd place! Good job, monkeys! You might want to go for a dunk in the lagoon nowto get rid of those flies! Hehe!

Hello Monkeys!

As this weeks Mystery Monkey, it’s my job to announce this weeks Monkey of the Week! So, let’s congratulate…Doggy!!

Doggy is on almost everyday, and I guarantee that if he sees you, he will say “Hi.” Doggy is always friendly, helps anyone who needs it, and is always up to a challenge. Plus, his recycling bin is always empty and his turbine is always spinning ;) So, if you see Doggy around, make sure to say “Hi” back (and congrats!) Thanks for all you do to help MiniMonos, Doggy!

MiniMonos Monkey Fact Monday: Squirrel Monkey

Hey everymonkey!

Today, I have some facts for you about an awesome monkey - the Squirrel Monkey!

Squirrel Monkeys are new world monkeys of the genus Samari. They usually have a short coat of fur which ranges from a olive/tawny color at their shoulders to an orange color on their arms and legs. Their face is white and black. They usually live in the tropical forests of Central and South America up in the canopy layer of the rainforest there! 

Squirrel monkeys are a small monkey, though not as small as the Pygmy Marmoset we learned about last week! They can grow up to 35cm long not including their tail which can be up to 42cm long! Their tail is not a prehensile tail like other monkeys may have - instead they use it as a balancing pole when they move through the trees!

A special fact about Squirrel Monkeys is that their brain mass to body mass ratio is 1:17, which gives them the largest brain, proportionately, of all the primates! We humans have have a 1:35 ratio. Isn't that really cool?

Thanks for those really neat facts about the Squirrel Monkey, Doggy! I had no idea their brain was so big compared to their body! That's amazing! One question I can't answer though is why they're called Squirrel Monkeys! Anyone have any idea? - Manx
