Hey, monkeys! It's Friday again already! I don't know about you but this week went by so fast for me with all the cool stuff happening on MiniMonos! You know what Friday means, right? Yep!! It's Fan Art Friday time!

We couldn't believe all the artwork that was sent in - every week you make us speechless! That's hard to do, believe me! xD The artwork featured in this week's Fan Art Friday includes some of the entries that have been sent in for Viper and Calypso's humongous, bananatastic art contest giveaway! MiniMonos Monkey of the Week!!

Hi monkeys, Mystery Monkey here! :)

This weeks MOTW is.....miniJghRocks!

miniJghRocks always loves to talk and help new monkeys around the island, he even gives them tours as much as he can ^.^ He is very friendly to all monkeys.

He also makes sure to keep as much poo as he can off the MiniMonos Island and helps recycle  items :-)  If you visit his tree house his recycling bin is almost always empty and keeps his cloud powered electricity running. 

So if you see miniJghRocks around make sure you congratulate him for MOTW and everything he's done for MiniMonos!

He also loves to post on his blog about MiniMonos every time there is an update! So well done, miniJghRocks! You totally and most definitely deserved MOTW!

Monkey Fact Monday: Geoffroy's Spider Monkey

Welcome to another Monkey Fact Monday! Did you know that primates and monkeys have fingerprints just like we do? Some monkeys even have fingerprints on the end of their tails! One of these monkeys is the spider monkey :-)

While reading about monkey fingerprints I stumbled upon some really cool facts about a certain kind of spider monkey - the Geoffroy's Spider Monkey! These spider monkeys are also known as Black Handed Spider Monkeys. You can find them in Central America, parts of Mexico & Columbia because they're a type of New World Monkey, like those really noisy Howler Monkeys!

They are arboreal, which means they live most of their lives up in the trees. Their tail is prehensile and has a "palm-like pad" at the end of it where their fingerprint (tailprint?) is!

Their tails can support their full weight and makes it really easy for them to get around in the trees, which is good for them because their diet is mostly fleshy fruit and leaves. They have been known to eat insects, flowers, bark, honey and bird eggs as well. Yum yum!

One of the coolest things about the Geoffroy's Spider Monkey is that in the wild they sometimes spread a mix of their saliva and ground lime leaves on their fur. People think this could be their way of repelling bugs! I bet they hate getting bug bites as much as you or I do :-) Do you think chewing on Lime Tree leaves would be worth it, though?

MiniMonos Updates!

Hello Monkeys! miniJghrocks here! xD

As you all probably  know, MiniMonos underwent some construction.... for the new updates! :D

I think the new updates are amazing! If you look around the homepage, you'll see plenty of new things. Of course, a whole new homepage!

As you can see, many new things! First off, Fan Art Friday has its own page now! You can go there and watch all the Fan Art Friday videos!

Also, a completely new feature, called Color in!

Not too good at drawing (like me xD)?  You can print off those coloring sheets, color them in, and send them back in to be in the next Fan Art Friday :D They are all pretty cool, and you should definitely go check them out!

Another cool thing now is that on all the kids pages, in the top right hand corner there's a link to the youtube page and to the Go Bananas Blog!

Also, the in-game updates! First off, when you log in, you'll need to head to the right side of the town!

And then, go inside the building and you'll see......

Mutt's Art Gallery!

When you talk to Mutt, he'll tell you all about his gallery, and how very soon, OUR OWN art could be in it! :D How cool! 

He'll also give you a link to the blog, to post art in Viper and Calypso's art competition, or a link to email him at mutt@minimonos.com, where you can also send in artwork for him! :D

Pretty cool, huh?

And doesn't he just look so happy playing his paint can bongos? xD

The art gallery also stretches on and on, and it makes you feel like you're flying! :D

I think the updates are REALLY cool, and you should definitely take a look at everything, and maybe even submit some art :D

Humongous, bananatastic art contest giveaway!!

Hey Monkeys!  In honour of Mutt's new Gallery update, Viper and I (Calypso) got together and planned a HUMONGOUS, BANANATASTIC art contest!

Viper and I have been planning this contest with the help of the whole MiniMonos Staff for weeks!

It is HUMONGOUS so there will be HUMONGOUS PRIZES! Let me tell you what the prizes are, then Viper will tell you about the contest.

For the prizes, everyone has a chance to win one of these:

Prizes:

• 2 x 6-Month Memberships.

• 4 x 1-Month Memberships.

• 2 x 10,000 Banana Chips.

PLUS some of the winners art will be displayed IN-WORLD on MiniMonos in Mutt's Art Gallery!

Now the theme is pretty much 'MiniMonos' itself. It's up to YOU to use your creative minds and think outside the box for your entries. :P

So using software on your computer such as Paint or Photoshop (or it may be hand-drawn), draw or create an artwork expressing what you think MiniMonos is all about. If it is hand-drawn, you can scan or take a picture of your artwork and upload it.  Then just submit your entry by adding the link to the comments on this blog post.! :)

Here's an example of a picture I drew a while ago for the Earth Day 40th Anniversary:

Each monkey has a maximum of 2 entries.  It would be great to write your monkey name on your drawings and/or graphics too!

Saraapril took first place again this week, for the second week in a row! Longhorn flew into 2nd place, and iJamsey took 3rd place again for the second week in a row! Great stuff, monkeys!

Recycle game high scores:

We had some super-sorters last week!

iChance was 1st for the second week in a row! Spq96 grabbed 2nd place and number of items and Guitargirl100 took 3rd place. Awesome recycling!

Here is my thought on the Fly Shirt. I think that each month, there will be a t-shirt for the top 10 players for each game. So everyone has a chance because there is one game everyone is really good at compared to others. So once the last game is played for a tshirt, the shirts would end.

Remember too, Cptodayiscool, its about effort, not how good it looks. You can really tell when someone has put effort into something, or if they took a shortcut and just cop and pasted something like that. So just remember, be creative, and there's nothing wrong with just doing a picture on the computer :)
(You could even copy and paste one of the ColorIn pictures onto paint and color it in :D)
